Xanth is Crowded. There are far, far too many magic users
These days, and the Source of Magic is really feeling a drain.
Good Magician Humfrey has located two heroes – the father and
Son team of Bink and Dor – to quest deep into the heart of Mundania
To find the ‘Prick-Ocious Pear’.
As they brave the dark world of normality, our Precocious Pair
Overcome obstacle after obstacle of non-magic folk, to find
The ‘Prick—Ocious Pear’, whose Mundane Power will grant
Xanth a new lease of life.
Continuing on from

PLOT IDEA
In the novel Bink and Dor argue a lot and cast jibes at each other, working
through some of their life difficulties and challenges. They have concerns
that Xanth really needs to continue its tradition in the way of Magic and they
know the importance of tracking down the Prick-Ocious Pear. Good Magician
Humfrey had a tome of knowledge on 'Ancient Mysteries of Mundania', and the
Pear is a legendary figure which supposedly has something akin to Maical Power,
very rare in Mundania. When they finally track down the Prick-Ocious Pear in the
heart of Mundania, they find that he is the biggest 'Prick' in all the world. He casts
jibes and mocks which make Bink and Dor look second rate, especially insulting
their intelligence and competence at things. He is a real 'Prick'. The Pear is in fact
a magical Pear tree, planted in Mundania many centuries ago by the ancient wizard
Merlin. The Pear has the ability to talk and spends his days singing and insulting
the animals which rest in his branches. The Pear, in response to their desperate
plea, allows them to pluck one of his precioius pears which, when they plant in
Xanth should grow into a new 'Source of Magical Strength' which will help alleiviate
Xanth of its concerns. The Pear insults our duo as they leave, and they return home,
much the way they came, with similar thrills and spills, and plant the pear, with
Good Magician Humfrye's wise advice, in the grounds of Castle Roogna. A few years
later the tree is starting to grow and a new magical strength is indeed coming into
Xanth. But what it's long term effects are - who can tell?
